Spaces of Fire was a physical theatre fantasy showing a group of young people passing through a fairground portal into a video game of ever changing levels.
The show was devised by a group of learning disabled teenagers over a period of 6 months. The group was: Natalie Doran, Campbell Phoenix, Alistair Patton, Linda Tate, Lesley McAleese and Gerard Irvine.
For a final 3-month production assembly period, Conor Jordan, Amy Preston and Chloe Melville joined the group as supporting performers.
The show was performed at Belfast Metropolitan College in April 2007.
“Kids in Control is a company that consistently raises the bar and extends the boundaries in all their projects with young people, irrespective of the limiting labels others might attribute to the same young people. Cutting edge young people’s performance work”
Malcolm Smith: Curriculum Centre Manager of Performing Arts, Belfast Metropolitan College.
